Third term began with our Student/Parent/Teacher interviews. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the achievements made by the children and set goals for the second semester.
Our Inquiry unit is ‘Health and Wellbeing’. The learning intents are taken from the AusVELS domain of Health and the Religious Education program, ‘Life Relationships – Source of Life’. The parent/child night where the Life Relationships program was explained, was well attended and a valuable precursor for the work being done in the classroom.
The children have enjoyed participating in the Gymnastics program at Jets Gymnasium. It has been great to see the development in their skills in this area. They have also been developing their athletic skills in order to fully participate in the school Athletics Carnival on Tuesday the 11th of August.
The Senior Unit Camp, is taking place in week 9, at Camp Wilkin, Anglesea. The students will be involved in various outdoor education activities, such as rope courses, mountain bike riding, beach walks and archery. The focus is not only on building their outdoor education skills, but also on developing their personal, interpersonal and co-operative skills.
One of the things the children always enjoy is the activities they do leading up to and during Book Week which is in week 7. Teachers and children will have the opportunity to dress as their favourite book character. A highlight of this week is always the performance by the band ‘The Blurbs’.
